Sebastian River senior Adyson Millican has been named WPBF 25 News’ November Scholar Athlete of the Month. The golfer is a two-year captain and a multiple-time district winner with the Sharks, where she has played for four years.
Her coach, Cormack Matthews, said her leadership and play have helped turn the program from a hobby into a competitive team. He described her as the captain, an assistant coach and a mental health counselor for the team.
Millican is also the senior class president. She plays on the weightlifting and track teams, carries a 4.4 GPA and is on track to earn an International Baccalaureate diploma. She also works as the football team’s manager.
Millican said golf is the hardest sport she has played but also the most rewarding. She said she hopes to attend Tennessee or Miami and become an athletic trainer. She described her senior year as one she is savoring and said she is keeping a scrapbook of it.
