The City of Coral Springs has won a statewide planning award for its partnership with Habitat for Humanity, the city announced in a press release.

The American Planning Association’s Florida chapter presented the city with an Award of Excellence in the Implementation Project category at the 2026 Florida Planning Conference, held in October in Miami. The awards recognize planning projects that show effective implementation, collaboration and positive community impact.

City officials said the Habitat for Humanity partnership shows how local governments and nonprofits can team up to meet community needs and create opportunities for residents.

Tina Jou, the city’s director of development services, said the award reflects the city’s focus on strategic planning and partnerships. She credited the teamwork and dedication that brought the project to life.

The chapter’s annual Project Awards also cover development, conservation and public engagement. Allara Mills-Gutcher, the chapter’s president, said the awards highlight the role planning plays in building vibrant, resilient communities.
