St. Thomas University inducted its 1996 baseball team into the school’s Hall of Fame over homecoming weekend, recognizing the first squad in school history to reach the NAIA National Championship.

The team was honored on the field during the homecoming football game on Saturday. Players, coaches and families took part in the ceremony, and former pitcher Eddy and his family joined him on the field.

Nathalie, whose husband Eddy pitched for the team, said the event gave the players a chance to reconnect and gave children a chance to see their fathers recognized. Eddy’s former coaches were also recognized during the ceremony, she said.

The weekend started Friday with a dinner prepared entirely by students in the university’s culinary arts program.
