A woman was arrested after a string of crashes and an attempted carjacking at a mobile gas station on Hillsboro Boulevard, according to Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies.

Investigators said Roszetta Benjamin was driving a stolen car when she was involved in a hit-and-run crash near Northeast 54th Street and South Federal Highway in Deerfield Beach. Three other vehicles were involved in that crash. Deputies said Benjamin left the scene and caused another crash at North Federal Highway and Hillsboro Boulevard, leaving the stolen vehicle undrivable.

Investigators said a good Samaritan stopped to help her, but Benjamin allegedly tried to carjack that driver. The two struggled over the vehicle. Deputies said Benjamin put the car in drive during the struggle and crashed into the gas station.

Benjamin faces several charges, including carjacking, grand theft auto and hit-and-run involving injuries. She declined to appear on camera in court, but a Broward County judge found probable cause on the charges. She will remain in jail on bond until she appears before a judge again Sunday on a kidnapping charge.
