Washington Elementary School in Palm Beach County will remain closed Friday because severe flooding and dangerous conditions continue to affect parts of the community, according to the School District of Palm Beach County.
All other district schools will open Friday, Chief of Communications Sean Cooley said. The district said it will reopen schools only when conditions are safe, noting that some neighborhoods still face flooding that could make travel difficult or dangerous.
Families and staff who cannot safely reach school are being urged not to take risks. Weather-related absences will be fully excused through Friday.
The district also thanked teachers, bus drivers, school leaders, custodians and other staff who helped reopen schools after the storms. It asked families for patience as crews continue working through the flooding.
