Family, friends, teachers and classmates gathered Wednesday at Farm & Flame in Vero Beach to remember Sulliman “Sulli” Bah, a 17-year-old who was fatally shot during a meetup at Garcia Boat Ramp last week, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.

No arrests have been made. Investigators are examining whether the shooting may have involved self-defense.

The celebration was held at the restaurant where Bah worked. Those who knew him described the Sebastian River High School student as kind, funny, hardworking and someone who could light up a room. Friends said he was focused on his future and enjoyed time with the people closest to him.

Bah’s mother, Chelynn Godfrey, said her son was loving and caring and had his entire life ahead of him. She asked investigators to consider all the facts and said she hopes the person responsible is arrested and jailed.

Former teachers and classmates also spoke about his smile and his habit of checking on the people around him. Bah’s funeral is scheduled for Saturday.
