The Coral Springs Charter girls’ bowling team won the Broward County Athletic Association championship on Oct. 6 at Strikers. It is the team’s third consecutive county title.

Coach Greg Mason praised the squad, naming Cameron Thiele, Gensen Courtney, Faith Tucker and Jazmyn Chung for strong performances. “The whole team bowled exceptionally, and they have done well all season,” Mason said.

Thiele said the team’s chemistry is a big part of its success. She said she is confident the team will win the district championship.

The Charter boys’ team finished fifth, according to Mason. At Taravella High School, the girls’ team placed fourth. Gabriela Sanchez and Chyanne Van Winkle led the girls, while Adam Acebedo was the top boys’ bowler, according to coach Madison Rabun.

Rabun said Taravella did not have a bowling team last year, and she believes the girls’ squad is good enough to qualify for the state championship.
