The Tamarac City Commission approved a budget increase of $3,569,378 at its October 28 meeting, along with a change to the city’s retirement rules for employees.

The commission adopted an ordinance for the second budget amendment to the fiscal year 2026 operating budget, capital budget and financial policies. The change raises total budgeted revenues and expenditures from $295,549,986 to $299,119,364. Director of Financial Services Priscilla Moxey recommended the amendment. The item still needs a second reading on November 10, 2026, before it becomes the new adopted budget.

In a separate vote on second reading, the commission approved changes to the normal retirement age. Employees can now retire after 30 years of credited service regardless of age. The city also replaced the age 55 and 30 years of service requirement with age 55 and 25 years of service, according to city information.
