Boca Raton’s 11th Annual Mayors Ball drew a sold-out crowd of 600 on Saturday night to the newly renovated Mizner Center at The Boca Raton resort. The gala raised money for grants from Rotary Club Downtown Boca Raton, the club’s main fundraiser.

Angelo Bianco, founder and managing partner of the CPGroup, received the George Long Award. Greg Schiller, CEO of Child Rescue Coalition, won the Susan Whelchel Award. Andrew Duffell, president of the Research Park at Florida Atlantic University, accepted the J.C. Mitchell Award. The Boca Raton’s president and CEO, Daniel Hostettler, received the award named for Addison Mizner.

Bianco is known for redeveloping the former IBM research campus, now called Boca Raton Innovation Campus, which he sold to Related Ross in September. Mayor Andy Thomson attended, along with County Commissioners Maria Sachs and Marci Woodward and FAU president Adam Hasner.

A live auction led by Rotarian Bill Riddick brought in money mostly through travel packages, and the club also held its Call to the Heart cash donation drive. Two other nonprofits, Sweet Dream Makers and Spirit of Giving, were recognized. The Steve Chase Band played on the dance floor.
