Park Tavern, the downtown Delray Beach restaurant known for its happy hour and from-scratch kitchen, is closing after more than 15 years at 32 SE Second Ave., just off Atlantic Avenue. The last day will be Sunday, Oct. 18, according to the Palm Beach Post.

The restaurant announced the closure on Instagram. Former employees and regulars posted memories of working the bar and of favorite drinks, including the smoked old-fashioned and espresso martinis. One commenter called it the best happy hour on the Avenue. The restaurant’s post invited guests to “join us for one last bite.”

Park Tavern opened in February 2012, according to a 2012 New Times report, and was founded by Brandon Belluscio, Brian Albe and chef Anthony Pizzo, the partners behind Cut 432. Cut 432 recently closed its longtime location after 18 years and has said it plans a new location, though no address or opening date has been announced.

Some commenters blamed rising rents and landlords for changes along the Avenue. Park Tavern has not publicly given a reason for its closing.
