The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday released 911 calls made after a Learjet 60 crashed into Military Trail in Greenacres on Sunday. All nine people aboard died.

The National Transportation Safety Board has not determined what caused the crash. Investigators are still digging out a large crater left where the jet hit the road. They have recovered part of one engine and are examining wreckage for clues.

Crews also found major pieces of the jet’s left elevator, a control surface on the tail, scattered between 1.3 and 3.8 miles from the impact site. That spread suggests the pieces broke away before the plane hit the ground. Investigators have not said whether the separation contributed to the loss of control or happened because of forces acting on the aircraft during its descent.

Military Trail is a busy north-south corridor through Greenacres, and the crash scene has drawn heavy attention from residents. The NTSB has not given a timeline for its final findings.
