A 19-year-old Miramar man was arrested Wednesday after police said videos showed him strangling his Goldendoodle and throwing the dog against a wall, killing it. Miramar police identified the suspect as Javondre Antonio Jackson.

According to an arrest report, officers responded Tuesday to an animal cruelty complaint at a home in the 11400 block of Southwest 26th Street. Investigators obtained multiple videos that allegedly show Jackson grabbing the dog by the neck. Police said the footage was recorded last Saturday and that Jackson sent the videos to another person to antagonize them. Investigators also obtained sworn, recorded statements identifying Jackson as the person seen in the videos.

The report says Jackson sent text messages Tuesday threatening to kill people and himself. Later that night, while in the back of a police car, he used his feet to damage the partition and threatened officers, authorities said.

Online jail records show Jackson was booked into the Broward County Main Jail on Wednesday morning on charges of aggravated animal cruelty, a third-degree felony, and criminal mischief. A Broward County bond court judge ordered him not to contact any witnesses in the case, including his ex-girlfriend. As of Thursday afternoon, he remained jailed on a $15,500 bond.
