Miami Senior High wide receiver Jacob Thomas is one of the South Florida high school players in contention for the 2026 Nat Moore Trophy, according to CBS News Miami. The three-star receiver comes from a football family. His father played at Bethune-Cookman University, and an uncle played in the NFL for the Minnesota Vikings and Denver Broncos.
Thomas has earned multiple college scholarship offers, which his coach credited to years of hard work. “He just loves ball,” the coach said. “He truly, truly loves football.”
The Stingarees have struggled as a team this season, but Thomas has posted strong individual numbers. His coach said he has four games with more than 150 receiving yards and one game over 200. Thomas said he grew up watching South Florida standouts such as Jeremiah Smith and Malachi Toney, and he named Derrek Cooper as a former schoolmate.
Thomas hopes to follow former Miami Senior players who reached the NFL, including wide receiver Andre Johnson. The Nat Moore Trophy recognizes the top high school football talent in South Florida. Readers can nominate players at NatMooretrophy.com.
