Students in the drama department at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School will present the musical “The Mad Ones” on two evenings next month. Both shows start at 6:30 p.m. in the school theater.

The performances are set for Thursday, Nov. 5, and Friday, Nov. 6, at the school at 5901 Pine Island Road in Parkland. Tickets cost $8 to $15 and are sold through GoFan.

The story follows Sam, a young woman caught between an overbearing mother, a complicated relationship with her boyfriend and an uncertain future. Her friendship with her best friend pushes her to make hard choices and take control of her own life. The show covers independence, friendship, identity and the move into adulthood, with emotional scenes and musical numbers.

Because of its mature themes, the production is recommended for mature audiences. Families considering it for younger teens should keep that guidance in mind.
