The sixth annual Make Our Schools Safe Golf Classic is set for Friday, Nov. 6, at the Country Club of Coral Springs, 10800 W. Sample Road. Check-in begins in the morning, with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
The tournament raises money for safety initiatives in Broward County schools. Make Our Schools Safe was founded by Lori and Ilan Alhadeff in memory of their daughter, Alyssa, one of 17 people killed in the 2018 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland. The group says its goal is to create safer learning environments for students nationwide.
Golfers can register as individuals or as teams, and businesses and community groups can sponsor the day. The event includes breakfast, golf, raffles and awards. Sponsorship levels range from hole and contest sponsors to premier event partners. People who do not golf can donate money or contribute raffle and auction items.
Organizers said all proceeds will go to Make Our Schools Safe programs and student-led MOSS Clubs across South Florida. Funds will support safety education, advocacy and campus improvements at local schools.
Registration, sponsorship details and donations are available at makeourschoolssafe.org or through the event page on my.onecause.com.
