Showers moving in from the ocean were forecast for Tuesday afternoon. Calmer winds and less rain were expected starting Wednesday.
Social media posts from the region described water running through streets from Miami to Fort Lauderdale, with some homes and businesses taking on water. Drivers also complained about traffic backing up in Fort Lauderdale near Las Olas Boulevard, where flooding had closed parts of the road.
