The City of Hollywood has waived parking fees for residents at its beach garages as king tides bring the risk of flooding to low-lying neighborhoods. The waiver took effect at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24.

Residents can park their personal vehicles in the Nevada Street or Garfield Street garages on Hollywood Beach on a first-come, first-served basis. They must show proof of Hollywood residency.

Commercial trucks and fleet vehicles are not allowed. All vehicles must park legally in marked spaces. The city said vehicles parked illegally or blocking others will be ticketed and could be towed.

Standard rates still apply at city-operated garages in downtown Hollywood. Parking fees at the beach garages will return at 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25.
