The City of Hollywood is launching a one-way traffic pilot project on S. 19th Avenue and S. 20th Avenue between Washington Street and Jackson Street. Both avenues will switch from two-way to one-way traffic. The city says the goal is better traffic flow, stronger neighborhood connections, more parking and safer bicycle travel.

The work also includes rebuilding intersection corners and alley connections with ADA-accessible ramps, and regrading swale areas to improve stormwater drainage. Crews will expand on-street parallel parking and install a dedicated bike lane. Access to homes, businesses and alleys will be maintained during construction.

Residents are reminded to keep cars out of swales. Parking there can compact the soil and reduce its ability to absorb rainwater, and it is generally prohibited under City Code Section 72.022, subject to exceptions.

Questions can go to Jose Garcia, the city’s engineering, transportation and mobility project manager, at 954-921-3900. More information is at HollywoodFL.org.
