All public schools in St. Lucie and Indian River counties will stay closed Thursday because of flooding left by record rainfall in recent days.

Palm Beach County’s school district announced Wednesday evening that six of its campuses will also remain closed Thursday. They are Egret Lake Elementary School, Grassy Waters Elementary School, Sandpiper Shores Elementary School, Washington Elementary School, Jeaga Middle School and West Boca Raton Community High School.

The closures affect families across several counties, and parents of students at the six Palm Beach campuses should check district channels for updates on when classes resume. The announcements came as flooding continued to disrupt daily life across the region.
