Grand Western Steaks and its parent company, Cheney Brothers, are building a meat and seafood processing plant at 2001 N. Andrews Ave. Ext. in Pompano Beach, according to the Pompano Beach Insider. The facility will span roughly 70,000 square feet.

The companies describe the project as a $40 million-plus investment that will create about 150 jobs. The post did not give a construction timeline or an opening date.

Grand Western Steaks began as a butcher shop in Fort Lauderdale, where it grew into what the business calls the “Steak of Steaks.” The Pompano Beach Insider has published a longer report on the project, the site and the company’s history.

For Pompano Beach residents, the plant marks a significant new industrial use on a busy north-end corridor and a new source of local employment.
