Early voting for the November general election has begun in Palm Beach County, and some polling places drew long lines. Voters at a Palm Beach Gardens location said they were motivated by the chance to weigh in on candidates and ballot measures.
Jessica Brayson said she voted for Democratic candidates across the ballot and backed funding for parks, libraries and teachers. She also voted no on changing the Florida Constitution. Diana Wise, a Republican voter, said she supported Republican candidates except Mike Caruso, whom she said has been arrested, is facing charges and has refused to resign.
Amendment 3, which would increase the state’s homestead exemption, split the voters interviewed. Brayson opposed it, saying renters would not benefit and would likely pay more. Wise said she was still weighing it, but she supported limiting government spending. Stanley Duzy also voted against the measure, arguing that the cost would fall on the middle class and poor.
Early voting in Palm Beach County runs daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Nov. 1, and voters may cast ballots at any open early voting site in the county. On Election Day, Nov. 3, voters must go to their assigned polling place. Early voting in St. Lucie County runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and in Indian River County from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with both counties continuing through Oct. 31.
