A Lake Worth man is facing several charges after Palm Beach Gardens police said he repeatedly contacted and threatened a woman who tried to end communication with him.

Rodney Michael Chavers was arrested Sept. 29, according to a probable cause affidavit. Court records list charges including extortion, stalking, sexual cyberharassment and obscene or harassing phone communication.

Police said their investigation documented months of unwanted contact by phone, text, social media, email and payment apps. The woman told investigators she received more than 250 phone calls.

According to the affidavit, the woman blocked Chavers’ number in March, and he allegedly switched to other phone numbers to keep reaching her. An officer contacted him March 29 and told him to stop. Investigators said some messages threatened to share intimate images and videos with the woman’s family, friends and workplace if she did not respond. Police said intimate material was sent to her sister.

The affidavit says the two had a brief period of renewed contact before she again ended communication. Chavers allegedly resumed contacting her through multiple numbers and online accounts. In an interview with police, he acknowledged using different numbers after being blocked and admitted sending an intimate video of himself and the woman to her sister, according to the affidavit.

The charges are allegations, and the case has not been tested in court.
