A state health inspection of Duffy’s Sports Grill at 20465 State Road 7 in West Boca Raton on Oct. 29 turned up eight violations, five of them labeled high priority. The restaurant was not ordered to close.
Inspectors logged the findings with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. Among the high-priority items, an inspector found a dented can of cherries on a dry storage rack, and sour cream held at 81 degrees on the cook line, well above the 41-degree limit for cold food. The sour cream was stored next to a steam well, and the operator told the inspector it had been out of temperature since the previous day. Several hot-held soups and stuffing also tested below the 135-degree minimum, with the operator saying they had been out of temperature for about three hours. Staff were told to reheat them to 165 degrees.
A bar employee was also cited for handling dirty glasses, then working the point-of-sale system and making drinks without washing hands. The employee washed hands after the operator was advised.
Three lower-priority violations involved an ice bucket that was not inverted, wet-stacked pans on a dry rack and standing water across a back kitchen prep area. The wet-stacked pans were a repeat violation.
A follow-up inspection on Oct. 30 found no violations.
