New drone video shows first responders diving into a canal in Sunrise to pull an elderly man from his submerged pickup truck after a crash Thursday afternoon.
Sunrise police said officers and other crews were called to the area near Oakland Park Boulevard and Northwest 94th Avenue. When they arrived, they learned the driver had crashed through a wall at Broward Health Sunrise Emergency Services and gone into the canal.
Paramedics rushed the unconscious man to Broward Health Medical Center, where he died of his injuries. Crews later lifted the pickup out of the water and towed it away.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. The footage shows rescuers working in the water to reach the driver before he was taken from the scene.
