Food industry professionals, importers, restaurateurs and distributors gathered at Meraki Greek Bistro in Downtown Miami on September 15 for a tasting built around two European specialties: Halloumi PDO from Cyprus and kiwifruit from Kavala, Greece. The event ran alongside the Americas Food & Beverage Show 2026 and was organized by the EUKIHAL Campaign.
Guests sampled halloumi fries, marinated halloumi skewers and kiwi mocktails. Meraki’s Executive Chef, Peter Tsaglis, led a live cooking demonstration, preparing a halloumi, kiwi and watermelon salad to show how the ingredients could be used. He closed with a question-and-answer session.
Representatives from Cyprus spoke about the products’ heritage, how they are produced and their growing presence in international markets. The organizers said the evening was meant to open doors for new business relationships across the food, retail and hospitality industries.
For South Florida restaurant operators and buyers, the event offered a look at two imported products that may be new to local menus.
