Miami-Dade County Public Schools held its kickoff breakfast for the 33rd annual Principal Today program at Jungle Island in Miami. The event kicked off a program that brings local business and community leaders onto district campuses as guest principals.

This year’s group includes attorneys, bank presidents, restaurant owners, elected officials, city officials and athletes. They will shadow school administrators during the week of Oct. 26 through Oct. 31.

Guest principals will take part in daily administrative work. Their schedules include faculty meetings, meetings with student council groups, campus operations and team practices.

The program gives parents, students and staff a look at how a school runs day to day, and it puts community members inside classrooms and campus offices for a full week.
