Coconut Creek police responded to a range of calls between Oct. 20 and Oct. 26, according to the department’s weekly log published by Coconut Creek Talk. Most involved property crimes, though the log also included several domestic incidents and welfare checks.
Vehicle break-ins were a recurring theme. Two attempted thefts from vehicles were reported at Hammock Estates on Northwest 49th Avenue early Oct. 25. A 65-year-old man told police about a theft from his car on Northwest 14th Street, with an estimated loss of $315. A 34-year-old woman reported an attempted break-in on the same street. A stolen vehicle was also recovered on Vinkemulder Road.
Walmart on West Hillsboro Boulevard was the most frequent retail theft location. The store reported three separate incidents, with estimated losses ranging from $120 to $166. Police issued notices to appear for two of the shoplifting cases. A Publix on Coconut Creek Parkway reported a $222 theft that also involved narcotics and trespassing, police said.
Domestic cases drew several responses. On Oct. 24, a man was arrested on a charge of simple battery involving domestic violence at Lago Vista Drive. On Oct. 26, a 42-year-old man was arrested after a domestic battery on Northwest 49th Way. Separately, a reported domestic battery by strangulation on Cocoplum Circle in Elliot South, involving a 28-year-old woman, was logged Oct. 22.
The log also noted a felony marijuana possession stop on West Sample Road and a reported suicide at Coconut Palm Club Apartments on Northwest 55th Boulevard. Residents who want to review the full list of incidents can find the complete account on the Coconut Creek Talk site.
