The City of Boca Raton and Florida Atlantic University hosted the second annual Mobility Workshop at FAU on Thursday evening. City officials, transportation planners, residents and students gathered to talk about the future of local transit.

The event opened with an exhibit hall featuring local agencies and community partners. A presentation followed on the city’s main transportation efforts, including Vision Zero, which aims to eliminate traffic deaths and serious injuries on city roads. The city also outlined its Complete Streets Policy, which calls for roads designed so drivers, pedestrians, cyclists and transit riders share the space safely.

Officials also described the challenge of delivering safety projects, bike lanes and pedestrian crossings with limited space and funding. The city said it is prioritizing projects with the greatest impact.

FAU students presented posters with practical ideas. Proposals included safer crosswalk designs and a campus navigation app meant to ease traffic flow and improve directions.

The city and FAU thanked residents who attended. A fuller recap of the workshop is available on the Boca Raton Tribune’s website.
