A man in his 50s was grazed on the arm in a shooting near a Metrorail train in Overtown on Friday evening, according to Miami Fire. He was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital in stable condition.
Miami Fire said the shooting happened on the tracks, not inside the train. Miami police are assisting the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office with the investigation, which covers several blocks along Northwest 7th Avenue. The scene is just north of Booker T. Washington High School.
Chopper 4 video showed a train stopped on the tracks and a heavy police presence in the area. Officials have not released a suspect description or additional details about what led to the shooting.
Commuters and nearby residents should expect continued police activity in the area while investigators work the scene. CBS News Miami said the story is developing and will be updated as more information is released.
