Margate has a run of fall events planned for October, with pumpkins, costumes and family activities spread across several city locations.
The Fall Festival runs Saturday, Oct. 24, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Margate Sports Complex, 1695 Banks Road. Visitors can build a full-size scarecrow to take home, tour the Haunted House, ride ponies and jump in bounce houses. A costume contest is open to all ages, and residents can enter a pre-carved pumpkin in the judging contest. Admission is free, and food is available for purchase.
The Margate Police Department hosts Trunk-or-Treat from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, in the City Hall parking lot at 5790 Margate Blvd. City staff will decorate their vehicle trunks, and the department is providing the candy. Children are encouraged to wear costumes and bring a bag or basket.
On Halloween morning, Saturday, Oct. 31, the city runs Pumpkin Splash at Calypso Cove, 6200 Royal Palm Blvd. Children pick a pumpkin from the pool and decorate it during a 10 to 11 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. session. The event is for Margate residents ages 12 and under, with separate pool areas for ages 6 and under and ages 7 to 12. It costs $5 per participating child, supervising adults do not pay, and advance registration is required at margatefl.com/Register.
