A 24-year-old West Palm Beach woman has been charged with organized scheme to defraud after police said she tricked two adoption agencies into giving her financial aid by pretending she had just given birth.

According to a probable cause affidavit from the West Palm Beach Police Department, Arionna Joy Wiggins contacted Heart of Adoptions in July 2026. She said she had delivered a baby girl at West Boca Medical Center and described herself as homeless. Investigators said she asked for immediate financial help while looking to place the child for adoption.

Wiggins signed adoption-related documents under oath and said the infant was staying with a relative. When agency workers asked to see the baby, she gave conflicting explanations, the affidavit states. She later admitted there was no baby. Hospital records showed she did not give birth in July 2026, and medical information indicated her last delivery was in January 2026.

Police also found that Wiggins had been working with a second agency, Adoption by Shepherd Care, while asking for help with housing, transportation and food. She did not disclose that second relationship, investigators said.

The affidavit says Heart of Adoptions lost $839.22 and Adoption by Shepherd Care lost $818.50, a combined loss of $1,657.72. The case remains under the jurisdiction of the West Palm Beach Police Department.
