A Tamarac man was arrested after his ex-girlfriend told Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies that he tracked her car and used a Bluetooth speaker at home to play conversations he had secretly recorded inside the vehicle, according to a BSO arrest affidavit.

The woman contacted deputies on Oct. 26, a day after Valerio Jeanty, 37, of Tamarac, showed up at the Family Dollar in Sunrise where she worked. She said he pulled in beside her parked car, climbed into the back seat and began yelling and filming while she sat there with a friend. That night, she said, he played a recording of her phone call from inside the car through the speaker at home.

A deputy checked her car that day and found no tracker. Over the following days, she said, Jeanty sent voice messages that referenced her location and accused her of cheating. On Oct. 29, a BSO detective found a black tracking device attached with a magnet to the underside of her vehicle.

During a Nov. 2 interview, Jeanty told detectives he had hidden a spare phone under the passenger seat to learn whether his ex was seeing someone new after their six-year relationship ended. He showed detectives the recordings and a tracking app whose location matched the BSO facility in Fort Lauderdale where the device had been taken.

Deputies arrested Jeanty and took him to the Broward County Main Jail.
