John the Baker, a restaurant at 9709 W. Sample Road in Coral Springs, was temporarily closed after a Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation inspection on November 3. According to the inspection report, the inspector cited 12 violations, six of them marked as high priority.
The most serious finding was rodent droppings on top of the dishwashing machine. Inspectors also reported that a raw beef bone was stored on top of ready-to-eat tater tots in a reach-in freezer near the walk-in cooler, and that the bone was touching a white trash-can liner not approved for food contact.
The report also cited an employee vaping in the kitchen, black buildup on soda-machine nozzles, and missing date labels on lasagna and fried chicken in the walk-in cooler. Food temperature and storage practices were also flagged.
The inspector issued a stop-sale order while still at the restaurant. Several problems were fixed during the visit, but the restaurant remains listed as closed until the remaining violations are corrected.
