Families looking for things to do in Miami this month have a range of options, from hands-on science and art to dance and a children’s book festival. Miami New Times rounded up several of the picks for November.

The Miami Beach Botanical Garden, 2000 Convention Center Drive, hosts a Little Wetland workshop for children ages 4 to 8 at 10 a.m. Environmental educator Sasha S. Sikaffy will introduce living swamp plants, including aquatic carnivorous plants, before the kids build a miniature wetland in a shallow container. Materials are provided. Tickets cost $58.50 for members and $65 for non-members, with a $20 sibling discount, through Eventbrite.

The Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami, at 61 NE 41st St., holds a free ICA Family Sunday at 11:30 a.m. The event ties into the museum’s first solo institutional show of Guatemalan artist Manuel Chavajay, which runs through Nov. 22. Miami-based artist Paloma Dueñas will lead movement and dance activities. RSVP is required.

At the Hialeah Gardens Branch Library, 13451 NW 107th Ave., a free YouMedia Miami workshop at 4:30 p.m. teaches young adults to create their own manga. The class is open to all skill levels.

The Miami Children’s Museum, 980 MacArthur Causeway, offers an all-day Thanksgiving cooking class from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The museum also plans a family celebration the day before Thanksgiving. Museum admission is $26 for out-of-state visitors and $20 for Florida residents with valid ID.

The Miami Book Fair runs at Miami Dade College, 300 NE Second Ave., with its Children’s Alley from Friday, Nov. 20, through Sunday, Nov. 22. Activities include author talks, a science show, drumming and art workshops, soccer games and a teddy bear clinic. Kids 12 and under enter free.
