The Palm Beach County Emergency Operations Center was activated Sunday afternoon in response to a private aircraft crash, and it will remain at a Level 2, or partial, activation because of widespread flooding across the county. A State of Local Emergency was declared on November 1 for both incidents.
The aircraft crashed in unincorporated Palm Beach County on November 1. The crash started fires and left debris and damage to property and infrastructure, according to the county. Portions of Military Trail have been closed. Emergency crews have carried out evacuations, medical response, debris removal and infrastructure restoration.
Separately, heavy rainfall has caused significant flooding that is affecting roads, public infrastructure, homes and businesses, and access to essential services. The county said the flooding still threatens the health and safety of residents and visitors. Crews may need to respond to more calls, run drainage and water management work, and deploy county personnel and equipment to protect life and property.
The county said it will release more information on both incidents as needed. Residents should check county updates before traveling near Military Trail or flooded areas.
