South Florida voters dropped off mail-in ballots on Monday, the last day of early voting, ahead of Tuesday’s midterm elections. Florida voters will choose the next governor and the winner of a closely watched U.S. Senate race.
Workers at elections offices are processing mail-in ballots while voting equipment is delivered to polling places across the region. Some voters who mailed their ballots are unsure whether they arrived in time.
Broward Supervisor of Elections Joe Scott said it is too late to mail a ballot. To count, it must reach the office by 7 p.m. on Election Day, so he advised voters to bring it in person. Voters can check their ballot status on the Broward County Supervisor of Elections website by entering their name, date of birth and address digits.
Some travelers also rushed home to vote. Leonard Lowe said he returned from out of the country on Sunday and dropped off his mail-in ballot to avoid a trip on Tuesday.
Candidates are making final appeals to voters across the state, including in South Florida.
