South Florida families have a full calendar of fall and Halloween events this October, with festivals, trunk-or-treats, costume parties and haunted houses spread across Miami-Dade and Broward counties. Many are free and aimed at children and families.
In Miami-Dade, the Harvest & Wellness Family Festival runs Saturday, Oct. 10, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Westchester Cultural Arts Center at Tropical Park, 7930 SW 40th St. The first 200 families receive a free pumpkin. The South Dade YMCA’s Spook & Slam follows on Friday, Oct. 23, from 5 to 8 p.m. at 9355 SW 134th St. in Miami, with trunk-or-treating, a haunted house and a costume contest.
Wynwood’s HalloWYN 2026 is billed as the neighborhood’s official free Halloween block party. It starts at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31, and runs until 3 a.m. Nov. 1. Other Miami-Dade options include a Miami-Dade Schools Police trunk-or-treat on Oct. 28 at 3300 NW 27th Ave. and the Hialeah Cares Halloween party and haunted house on Oct. 29 at Miami Dade College’s Hialeah Campus.
Broward offers its own lineup. Deerfield Beach hosts a Fall Festival at Pioneer Park on Oct. 10. Fort Lauderdale’s 10th annual Riverwalk Fall Festival takes over Esplanade Park on Oct. 17. Hollywood’s Boo Bash runs Oct. 23 from 5 to 9 p.m., and Oakland Park’s free Halloween Bash is set for Oct. 30 at Wimberly Field, 4000 NE 3rd Ave.
Many events have set hours and locations, so families should check each organizer’s details before heading out. Several fall as early as the first weekend of the month, so planning ahead will help with the busiest dates.
