Boca Raton residents can get rid of old electronics and sensitive papers for free on Saturday, Nov. 14, when the city’s Office of Sustainability and Police Services Department host a drive-thru e-waste recycling and document shredding event. The event runs from 9 a.m. to noon at 6500 Congress Avenue.

Residents may drop off televisions (except CRT models), computers, monitors, printers, keyboards, phones, tablets, audio equipment, cables and chargers. The city will also accept small household electronics, batteries, light bulbs, medical equipment, and ink and toner cartridges.

Some items are not accepted. CRT televisions and monitors, radioactive materials, household hazardous waste and large appliances such as stoves, washers, dryers and dishwashers are excluded.

Police Services is partnering with Microshred Corporation to shred documents on site at no cost, with shredding trucks parked at the event. The shredding is open to residents only, and each household is limited to five banker-sized boxes. Officers will also hand out identity theft prevention tips.
