As Veterans Day approaches, 211 Palm Beach and Treasure Coast is asking residents to share its phone number with veterans they know. Of the nearly 3,000 veterans who turned to 211 for help in the 2025-26 fiscal year, nearly 1,100 came because a friend, family member or another agency pointed them there.
The helpline served veterans across Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River and Okeechobee counties. Of those who said they were referred, 314 veterans, or 29%, named a friend or relative. The other 71% learned about 211 from another agency. About 500 veterans were repeat callers.
Ty Barnes, president and CEO of 211 Palm Beach and Treasure Coast, said support should continue past the holiday. “Our data shows that connections matter,” he said.
Through the Florida Veterans Support Line, operated with the Florida Department of Veterans Affairs and the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay, 211 connects veterans to peer support, VA-funded programs and local help. Advocates can refer callers to counseling, housing, utility assistance, transportation, legal services and family support.
The services are free and confidential, and they are available around the clock. Veterans, active-duty members and their families can call 2-1-1 or 1-844-MYFLVET (1-844-693-5838).
