The Marjory Stoneman Douglas football team overcame a 16-point second-half deficit to beat J.P. Taravella High School 35-22 on Monday night. The game was moved back three days because of field conditions.

Taravella scored first, on an interception return, and led 22-6 at halftime. The Eagles then took over. They outscored the Trojans 29-0 in the second half, with Travis Willis running for a touchdown, Anthony Diaz catching two scoring passes from Sampson Orlinsky, and Chase Pavlish adding a late fourth-quarter score. Willis also added a pair of two-point conversions, and Audrey Haltiwanger kicked the extra point that put MSD up by 12.

The win moves the Eagles to 2-7. They close the regular season against Coral Glades on Friday, Oct. 30, at 6 p.m. The Jaguars beat MSD 20-7 in last year’s matchup.
