Two pets at Broward County Animal Care in Fort Lauderdale are looking for new homes: Gatsby, a 9-year-old cat, and Polo, a 13-year-old dog.
Gatsby is a domestic shorthair who was adopted from the shelter as a kitten. He was returned recently as an owner surrender. The 12-pound neutered male likes to be petted under his chin and responds with headbutts and purrs, according to the shelter. His animal identification number is A1909700.
Polo, a Chihuahua-dachshund mix, weighs 20 pounds and is neutered. The shelter describes him as a cuddly companion who likes to follow his people around the house. He is housebroken, walks well on a leash and still enjoys short bursts of play. Shelter staff also said he tolerates dressing up in outfits and cozy sweaters. His animal identification number is A1860957.
Animal Care is open for adoptions from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily at 2400 SW 42nd St. All adopted pets are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Adopters pay $25 for the Broward County registration tag. Residents can see Gatsby, Polo and other animals at Broward.org/Animal.
