Tropical Storm Isaias was strengthening in the Gulf of Mexico as of 10 p.m. CDT Wednesday, Oct. 7, according to the National Hurricane Center. The storm was centered about 460 miles south-southwest of the mouth of the Mississippi River and was moving east-northeast near 9 mph. Maximum sustained winds were near 70 mph, and the forecaster expects Isaias to become a hurricane soon.
