Twelve Palm Beach County public schools, six elementary and six middle schools, were named among the top 100 public K-8 schools in Florida in the 2027 U.S. News & World Report rankings, the School District of Palm Beach County announced Friday.

The state-level list scores schools on four equally weighted measures: math proficiency, math performance, reading proficiency and reading performance. Superintendent Mike Burke credited teachers, school leaders, support staff, students and families for the results. The district said its high schools were placed on the top 100 list in August.

The district also recently earned the “Academically High-Performing” designation from the Florida Department of Education, one of only 18 districts statewide to hold it. The state also named 45 Palm Beach County schools “Schools of Excellence” for sustained performance over multiple years.

Families can request a neighborhood school, apply to any district school with open seats or choose from more than 330 specialized programs. Information is available at PalmBeachSchools.org/Enroll, or by emailing admissions@palmbeachschools.org or calling 561-434-8197.

The district also pointed to the 1 Mill for Schools, which voters first approved in 2018 and renewed in 2022. It provides teacher salary boosts averaging $8,000 a year and funds 900 teaching positions. A measure to continue it is on the November 2026 general election ballot.
