Former Boca Raton Mayor Scott Singer, a Republican, is challenging incumbent Democrat Jared Moskowitz for Florida’s newly drawn 25th Congressional District, a seat that stretches along the coast from Delray Beach to Miami Beach.
The Florida Supreme Court allowed the new map in June. Voters in the district backed President Donald Trump by nine points in the last election, according to the report.
Moskowitz, of Parkland, has represented the 23rd District for nearly four years. He told 7News that the redistricting was aimed at unseating him. Singer, who left the Boca Raton mayor’s office in March because of term limits, said his record of cutting taxes, permitting delays and crime should translate to Washington. He also said he supports the Trump administration’s positions on immigration, Venezuela, Iran and fraud, waste and corruption.
Both men have pledged not to trade stocks while in Congress. Moskowitz said Singer has not spoken out against antisemitism on the right, a charge Singer’s campaign did not address in the story. Moskowitz framed his campaign around affordability, citing grocery prices and monthly bills.
Early voting in Miami-Dade and Broward counties ends Sunday. In Monroe County, it ends Saturday.
