Miami Shores police have identified the man arrested after he allegedly drove a car off a dealership lot and led officers on a high-speed pursuit. Investigators said Barry Korn, 50, faces several charges, including grand theft and resisting an officer without violence.

The incident happened Friday afternoon at Tropical Chevrolet in Miami Shores. Police said Korn met with a salesman, said he was shopping for a new car and then drove off in an SUV.

Police scanner traffic showed the driver heading into Miami Beach while speeding up, even as Miami Shores officers closed in behind him. He was stopped and arrested on 82nd Street, east of Biscayne Boulevard, before he got far.

The stolen SUV has been returned to the dealership. A tow truck removed Korn’s own car from the dealership parking lot.
