Early voting ended Sunday, and the candidates for Florida governor spent the weekend trying to get supporters to the polls on Election Day, Tuesday.
Democrat David Jolly rallied supporters in Coral Gables on Sunday as part of his “Believe in Better” tour. Running mate Gwen Graham joined him as he talked about affordable housing, health care, education and infrastructure. Jolly said the race will be decided by turnout.
Republican Byron Donalds held a rally in Tampa on Sunday for his “Florida Dream” campaign. He promised to keep taxes low, protect property owners and preserve the freedoms he said draw people to the state.
South Florida voters will also see other races. Democrat Angie Nixon made a final push in the region as she challenges Republican U.S. Sen. Ashley Moody. In Florida’s 27th Congressional District, Republican Maria Elvira Salazar is defending her seat against Democrat Elliott Rodriguez.
Miami voters will decide Referendum 3, which concerns a proposed long-term lease for marina development on Virginia Key. Supporters and opponents disagree about the project’s future and its environmental effects.
Polls open Tuesday at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Voters must cast ballots at their assigned precinct, not at any polling site, and must bring a valid photo identification that includes their signature.
