Student Government members from Grandview Preparatory School in Boca Raton delivered 7,042 donated items to the Forgotten Soldiers Outreach warehouse on Oct. 28, wrapping up the school’s yearly supply drive for U.S. military personnel stationed overseas.
During the visit, students met the volunteers who run the program and saw how care packages are assembled and shipped to troops far from home.
The items will go out in future monthly shipments. Families donated travel-sized toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, body wash, deodorant, flushable wipes and other everyday necessities that service members often struggle to find while deployed.
The drive started in classrooms, where students drew pictures, wrote letters of thanks and decorated the boxes that will carry the supplies.
Grandview, a private prekindergarten through 12th grade school, has worked with Forgotten Soldiers Outreach for nearly two decades. The school said the project gave students a hands-on lesson in civic responsibility and teamwork.
