People began lining up outside the Apple store on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach as early as Wednesday morning, ahead of the release of the iPhone Duo on Friday. WSVN cameras captured people in lawn chairs, some with children and dogs, as rain fell Thursday morning.

The iPhone Duo is Apple’s first foldable iPhone. It folds down to about the size of a passport and, when opened, offers the largest iPhone display the company has made. The larger inner screen lets users run two apps side by side. It costs $1,999 and goes on sale at 7 a.m. Friday.

Joseph Wiener, who was in line, called it the most popular product of 2026. He said he had been waiting since 1 p.m. Wednesday, while friends who invited him had arrived at 10 a.m.

Apple said it will have limited numbers for walk-in customers. The company said online orders sold out within minutes, pushing delivery for some buyers into January. Some people waiting in Miami Beach said they expected to get one phone, or possibly two, if they got one at all.
