A 42-year-old Boca Raton woman is facing a felony drug charge and a DUI after a two-vehicle crash on North Federal Highway on Saturday night, according to police. Sara Elizabeth Kaine was driving a silver Ferrari belonging to a friend who was a passenger, police said. The crash happened near 4499 N. Federal Highway, by the Sanctuary community, shortly before 9 p.m.

Police said the friend was significantly intoxicated and told officers he had let Kaine drive his car. The other driver and a security officer at Sanctuary identified Kaine as the driver. The guard told police he saw her climb out of the driver’s seat after the crash.

According to an arrest report reviewed by BocaNewsNow.com, officers noted bloodshot, glassy eyes, swaying and a smell of alcohol. Kaine performed poorly on roadside sobriety exercises and told officers she had “a few glasses of wine.” Police also noted what appeared to be spilled wine on her dress.

An inventory of the Ferrari allegedly turned up two orange gummies on the driver’s seat and a container of red gummies in the driver’s door. Lab field tests on the orange gummies, weighing 8 grams, and the red gummies, weighing 92.1 grams, came back positive for psilocin and psilocybin. Kaine refused to take a breath test.

Kaine is charged with felony possession of psilocybin, DUI with property damage and refusal to submit to testing. She was also cited for careless driving and a lane violation. After being cleared at Boca Raton Regional Hospital, she was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on a combined bond of $6,250. She is due in court Nov. 30 in Delray Beach.

These are allegations, and Kaine is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
