Boca Raton residents have until Nov. 14 to drop off clean candy wrappers at five city locations. The City of Boca Raton is partnering with Loggerhead Marinelife Center on the Unwrap the Wave program, which aims to keep wrappers out of landfills and off local beaches.
Drop-off sites include City Hall, the Children’s Science Explorium, the Downtown Library, the Spanish River Library and the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center.
The city noted that Americans buy more than 300,000 tons of candy each Halloween. Wrappers that end up in waterways can reach marine life, which is the reason for the campaign. Residents can find more information through the city’s link in its Instagram bio.
